Below is the field lining schedule for Fall 2017. Teams have been assigned either Hillview/Grove or Bard/Salt Brook. Two teams – Spurs and Breakers – have been assigned two weekends, all other teams are responsible for a single weekend. With two parent volunteers, each field should take less than 20 minutes. All fields must be lined by 9:30 AM Saturday with the exception of Salt Brook which must be completed by 8:30 AM. All fields must be lined RAIN OR SHINE. Carts and paint can be picked up either Friday night or Saturday morning. Please pick up the paint and cart(s) (I have enough for each team to take at least 2) at 18 Pitney Avenue. The carts are on the side of the house, “parked” under the deck and the paint is in the storage shed along the side of the house closest to the deck. Each field requires one case (6 cans) of paint. Teams assigned to Hillview must also take one can of alternate color paint for the build out line. Empty cans can either be recycled or returned to me in the case. Please place used cans upside down, so that I know which ones are empty. A short instructional video is available at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeniKokwJho.
Field lining tips:
The long direction of the nozzle should point “left-right” (not “forward-backward”) in the paint cart to achieve a thick line.
If the lines are faint, try viewing them from a different direction. Oftentimes the angle of the sun makes all the difference.
If the nozzle pops off, typically it can be popped right back on.
Quarter circles at the corners can be done by hand.
The arc and center circle can be done with the cart.
Don’t forget the penalty spots (dot of paint).
The carts won’t allow you to paint right up to the goal posts. Please complete by hand.
Please take your time. A thicker coat is always better than a thin one.
Please note, that if an assignment is missed the lines may fade to the point where they are no longer visible. This requires that the entire field be measured out from scratch which takes several hours. If your team misses a lining assignment, you will be required to participate in setting up the field from scratch. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me (973) 800 0348. Thank you for your support in maintaining our fields.
